The article examines current issues of cooperation between employers in the transport industry and higher education institutions during the period of reforming the sectoral education system. The main forms of interaction, including the development of educational standards, the establishment of basic departments, the arrangement of internships and practical training, as well as joint research activities, are analyzed. Special attention is given to the practical experience of cooperation between Russian Railways and St. Petersburg State Transport University.
