HIDDEN ACADEMIC DEBT IN THE TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY

Abstract:
The article introduces the concept of “hidden academic debt”, understood as a gap between the formally confirmed qualifications of a graduate of an educational institution and the actual level of mastering the competencies laid down in federal educational standards. The relevance of the topic is due to the high cost of human error in transport, where a lack of practical skills and relevant knowledge directly leads to accidents and catastrophes. The diagrams of the academic performance of students of PGUPS (2024–2025 and 2025–2026 academic years) are presented. Attention is paid to the high proportion of students enrolled in uneven pace. Ways to improve the quality of higher education are proposed.
